Systems Administrator

Job Description

Be able to provide technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. Technicians are required to have some knowledge of science or engineering and may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science. Technicians prepare drawings and assist in the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.

The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements and performs recurring work independently. This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

  • Constructing components, subunits, or simple models; may troubleshoot/correct malfunctions;
  • Follow scientific diagrams to construct/package simple devices & subunits of equipment;
  • Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;
  • Extracting/compiling engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation; and
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specs, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Education/Experience

Required:

  • Ability to possess a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Systems Administration and Network Maintenance/Infrastructure support.
  • Possess Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level I Certification - Specialty Area Code 45 - System Administration & Department of Defense (DoD) Systems Security Analysis Certification.

Preferred:

LAN Administrator/Analyst

Job Description

Systems Resource Management, Inc. (SRM) is currently seeking a LAN Administrator/Analyst to support the Submarine On-Board Training (SOBT) program at the Submarine Learning Center (SLC) in Groton, CT. The selected candidate will be the expert on network configuration and management and will be responsible for management, installation, configuration and maintenance of three (3) servers in a Windows environment. Task and responsibilities in this role include:

  • Perform LAN administration/analysis of SOBT internal LANs.
  • Perform day-to-day administration and maintenance tasks for three (3) internal SOBT development/testing LANs and associated software.
  • Install/upgrade server hardware, operating systems, and software to maintain SOBT development /testing LANs at a level comparable to what exists in the fleet.
  • Evaluate new developments in computer hardware, software, and procedures, and provide recommendations to SLC/SOBT.

Education/Experience

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field (minimum) or 3 years at sea experience in the Navy ITS rating field.
  • DoD 8570.01 approved baseline certification: IAT Level 1.
  • Ability to possess a DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred:

Junior Programmer

Job Description

The junior programmer utilizes algorithmic thinking to design, develop, and test Submarine on Board Training (SOBT) Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) products. The selected candidate will be the expert on various aspects of testing eLearning courses to ensure all functionality is viable and functions properly in a Learning Management System (LMS) environment. The junior programmer will be responsible to conduct a technical review to test requirements such as SCORM conformance and HTML validation on SOBT products and to ensure products meet all requirements in the SOBT developer’s guide. The junior programmer will evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations to improve SOBT computer-based training. Task and responsibilities in this role include:

  • Test, design, and develop SOBT IMI.
  • Collaborate with others to create SOBT products.
  • Deliver/execute solutions that drive engagement & help meet goals within delivery deadlines.

Job Description:

This technician will be required to support onsite electrical/electronic tasks conducted at NUWCDIVNPT’s Launcher Facilities by performing the following tasks:

  • Prototype cable and electrical assembly fabrication to print, testing and troubleshooting using engineering drawings schematics, wiring tables and parts lists.
  • Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.
  • Performing simple or routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; records test data.
  • Gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and draws simple curves and graphs.

Job Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience fabricating and testing prototype cable and electrical control and monitoring assemblies using engineering drawing packages. Additionally, ability to solder.

Preferred Qualifications:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial and program management support services to NUWCDIVNPT.
  • Utilize the Navy – Enterprise Resource Planning (N–ERP) system to create and maintain Project Structures and associated elements and data attributes as well as provide financial management reports and data summaries.
  • Track cumulative weekly expenditures charged to various NUWCDIVNPT projects.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports and compare to sponsor benchmarks.
  • Compile and summarize project cost documentation to include estimated direct labor and non-labor costs.

  • Research and identify root cause and corrective actions associated with rejected or suspense financial transaction records such as undistributed labor, unapplied overhead, and erroneous labor or non-labor postings.
  • Research funding document and transactional inquiries such as funding document reversion requests, unliquidated obligations, de-obligation requests, and funding document close-out activities.
  • Review draft purchase requisition related documentation for accuracy verifying financial information matches approved plans and budgets.
  • Maintain quality assurance; ensure that appropriate financial entries have been made for Government/contractor costs.
  • Prepare various financial reports and funding projections, upon request.

Marine Epoxy Painter

Systems Resource Management, Inc. (SRM) is currently seeking a Painter to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Ranges, Engineering and Analysis Department, Prototyping and Development Division, Industrial Services Enterprise (ISE).

Position Description:

  • Preserve and coat customers’ projects including models, historic pieces, submarine components, etc. from customer blueprints and specifications and in accordance with MIL SPEC coating requirements.
  • Mix colors, oils, epoxies and other paint ingredients to obtain the proper specification.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by grinding, sand blasting, masking, and removal of dirt, grease and debris.
  • Create stencils and utilize to apply nomenclature to components.
  • Apply liquid paint and coatings using the Spray Painting System, spray guns and brushes.
  • Operate the Powder Coating System booth and oven.
  • Operations are performed within government safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school/vocational school diploma or GED certificate or graduate of U.S. Navy “A” school, apprentice school or technical school.
  • 3+ years of painting experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
